“I Survived New Leaf Academy” is a tumblr page started by a student who went to NLA in North Carolina for 2 years from 2007 to 2009. Since NLA-NC has been shut down, the more current content of this blog includes stories from students who went to NLA in Bend Oregon. I hope you decide to look at this blog. You have to make an account in order to view the full thing, and although that may seem inconvenient, I don’t feel comfortable copying other students' stories from the blog here without their knowledge, and it’s highly unlikely they will get back to me if I ask to post them here directly.

PLEASE NOTE: I don't know much About Embark. In fact I reached out to them in September of 2023 and S.W. (bad staff member) "left" Embark in October. They've responded to my messages, and there have been no allegations from any of their locations so far. Please, do not treat Embark as if it's NLA when not even I have much knowledge of the program. New Leaf Academy was bought out by Embark. On their website you can choose which location you want to look at, and in the Bend location they have the same psychiatrist (Erin Sutton), special education teacher (Maryanne Deke), and executive assistant (Wendy Jensen). They used to have Jennifer Parker and Amber Hailey working there, but they're no longer listed as directors. They also have the same bunny barn, but I don't know how they care for the bunnies or how many they have, so again, do NOT attack if you don't have proof.

You can’t find the website normally anymore, so someone archived the website. If you want to look at the most recent version of the New Leaf Academy website, then this link leads you straight there. The gallery doesn't work anymore, but they did use stock photos of kids in class.

I have a friend who went to NLA with me, and she’s done a lot of speaking out. People are mainly asking about TRAILS, but she talks about NLA too. Her name is Leanne Roberts. She’s been on a few podcasts, and she speaks out about these programs on her tiktok. She’s wonderful <3
