New Leaf Academy, "a very special place".
New Leaf Academy was originally founded in Bend Oregon in 1997 by Craig and Christy Christiansen. It was the first "therapeutic" boarding school to focus solely on kids. They enrolled girls from the ages of 10 to 15 online, but in reality you could be there till your 18. New Leaf as a whole was taken over by Aspen Education Group(AEG) in 2004. In 2005 they decided it'd be a good idea to open one in North Carolina, but that didn't last long. In 2010, NLA North Carolina was shut down due to allegations of abuse of power, mistreating the students, neglect, and deceptive marketing practices. I don't know much about what happened in North Carolina, but I do know what happened in Bend Oregon. In 2011 Craig and Christy got New Leaf back. AEG is known for buying out smaller programs and focusing more on financial gains than student welfare. Looks like it stayed that way when Craig and Christy got it back.
